Another mixed use building coming to Belltown?

Downtown boasts several mixed use buildings – from Madison Tower and Olive 8, to the newly constructed Thompson Hotel, Seattle-area developers have been combining hotels with condos or apartments for years now.

Tsang Enterprises would like to build the newest development of this type in Belltown. The company wants to build a 17-story tower, combining hotel and condominiums, at 2121 5th Avenue, between Blanchard and Lenora, on a site it purchased in October 2015 for $4.1 million.

The initial plans of the Caron Architecture-designed tower reveal 88 hotel rooms on the bottom floors, topped with 68 condos on the higher levels. The ground level would house about two thousand feet of retail space and two separate lobbies: one for hotel guests and the other for condominium residents.

While most of the proposed or in progress project boast at least 30 floors, the 2121 5th Avenue site is limited in height due to its proximity to other high-rises on the block, such as the Martin and the ill-fated Potala. In addition to being limited in height, the building will also be quite narrow, at just under 60 feet wide, thus making an underground parking garage impossible.

We will keep you updated as more information about this joint venture between Tsang Enterprises, Caron Architecture and Brienen Structural Engineers becomes available.
