While we bring you monthly reports on the state of real estate in Washington, it is also helpful to analyze how we fare compared to the rest of the country. According to the article, the prices in the Seattle area rose at the 2nd highest rate in the nation.

Seattle real estate prices continue to climb.

For the second month the prices in Seattle kept climbing at a rate so impressive that the only city where prices shot up even more significantly is Phoenix. While the average country increase year-over-year was about 4.4% in March, that number is much higher in the Seattle area – 6.9%. While impressive, the year-over-year numbers in Phoenix are even higher with 8.2%. What is also encouraging is that the prices rose in all major metro areas surveyed by Case-Shiller.
