Seattle home price growth during pandemic is second highest in the nation
While we bring you monthly reports on the state of real estate in Washington, it is also helpful to analyze how we fare compared to the rest of the country. According to a recent article in Seattle Times, which took a look at figures compiled by the Case-Shiller Home Price Index, Seattle is breaking some records. According to the article, the prices in the Seattle area rose at the 2nd highest rate in the nation.
For the second month the prices in Seattle kept climbing at a rate so impressive that the only city where prices shot up even more significantly is Phoenix. While the average country increase year-over-year was about 4.4% in March, that number is much higher in the Seattle area – 6.9%. While impressive, the year-over-year numbers in Phoenix are even higher with 8.2%. What is also encouraging is that the prices rose in all major metro areas surveyed by Case-Shiller.
While this is a difficult time for all of us, we understand that some still need to buy and sell in this new reality.
